This photo, spotted on House to Home, is a well-executed example of a great idea. The designer hung a black and white rug as a focal point on the wall, then framed it using molding painted the same color as the walls. We like the idea so much, we went searching for ways to recreate this look…

We initially found Elizabeth Duffy’s handiwork on a Flickr user’s photostream. With no information under the image but the Space Gallery that had hosted the installation, we immediately emailed them and asked for details. We learned that the artist in question is Elizabeth Duffy–an artist that showcases the items we dispose of in our everyday lives…

Jaclyn sent in a good question: Are Chicago landlords required to paint the walls each time a new tenant moves in? I can’t seem to find it anywhere in the ordinance but have heard they are legally required to paint….
